Washington State Health Insurance Pool - WSHIP - Ready to Help

If you are a Washington resident and you have been declined coverage or are unable to get approved for an individual health insurance plan because of current or prior health conditions, the Washington State Health Insurance Pool was established to help you get health care coverage.

Washington State Health Insurance Pool (WSHIP)
The Washington State Health Insurance Pool was created by the Washington State Legislature to provide access to health insurance coverage to all residents of the state who are denied individual health insurance. WSHIP coverage is also available to residents of Washington State counties where individual health benefit plans or commercial Medicare supplemental insurance is not for sale to the general public. It is a high-risk pool for those declined, turned down or otherwise rejected after applying for individual health insurance coverage from one of the health insurance carriers selling insurance in Washington due to health conditions or reasons.

How to Apply for WSHIP Coverage
You simply complete the appropriate application form in full. In addition, if you have been rejected for coverage by an insurance carrier licensed in the state of Washington based on the results of the Standard Health Questionnaire, you must attach a copy of the rejection notice from the carrier, including the scoring sheet provided by that carrier to your application. If you have received substantially reduced coverage on a Medicare supplemental insurance plan, you must attach a copy of the insurance carrier's letter informing you along with your completed application.
