Short Term Medical Insurance Coverage - Oregon
What is Short Term Medical Coverage?
Short Term Medical is an insurance plan designed for people who have a temporary need for health insurance. This may serve your needs if you are:
  • Between jobs, laid-off, on strike, or quitting your job.
  • Waiting for employer group coverage to start.
  • Waiting for a regular individual policy to be issued.
  • A dependent who is no longer covered under your parent’s plan.
  • A recent college graduate.
  • A temporary or seasonal employee.
  • Taking time off from school.
  • Starting a business.
Coverage can be purchased for as few as 30 days or up to 12 months. Coverage can be extended for at least a second term by applying for a new policy when the first one expires.

Short Term Medical is designed to provide coverage for major hospital, medical and surgical expenses incurred as a result of medically necessary care for a covered illness or injury. Coverage is provided for daily hospital room and board, miscellaneous hospital services, surgical services, anesthesia services, in-hospital services, and out-of-hospital care, subject to any deductibles or rate of payment provisions or other limitations which may be set forth in the policy.
