Oregon's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is administered by the
Oregon Medical Assistance Program (OMAP). It offers the same benefits
package and choice of carriers and providers as Oregon Health Plan
(OHP)/Medicaid. The program, created and financed primarily by the
federal government, has two major differences from the OHP/Medicaid
program it's modeled after: children must be uninsured for 6 months
(with some exceptions), it is not an entitlement program and may
have a capped enrollment. There are no monthly premiums, co–payments, or deductibles in this program. This plan serves Oregon children, up to age 19, who have a household income of 185% of Federal Poverty Level, and who are not eligible for OHP/Medicaid. |
