As You Shop for Health Insurance
|
While not as much fun as going to the mall, we've
tried to make shopping for health insurance
easy and informative. Here are some things
you should know about.
Insurance companies file premium rates with
the state on a yearly basis and generally
can only change premiums once a year. This
can be on January 1, July 1, your policy
anniversary date, or other date depending
on your insurance company.
You pay the same premium for a given policy
and geographic area regardless of from whom
purchased.
We hate throwing money away or spending
money on something we don't get to enjoy
the benefits of. Yet, people can unknowingly
do this when it comes to health insurance.
Premiums for almost all insurance policies
include a commission charge to pay agents
for selling and servicing these policies.
You pay this commission charge regardless
of whether you buy directly from the insurance
company or from an independent agent.
If you purchase directly from the insurance
company, you give up your right to
have an agent represent you and help you
solve problems that may develop.
Our
job is to keep you informed and to help
you if you want us to.
We will keep you apprised of current pricing,
benefit changes, and other issues that affect
your policy.
Each year at your renewal, or as you desire,
we can compare your renewal rates and benefits
with those of other companies.
We can assist you with service, billing,
and claims resolution.
We will do our best to answer any other
questions you may have.
Some
people really like the way we do business.
This is what Renee sent to Ann via e-mail:
"Hello again. My insurance angel.
Please send information on both plans
and I will choose. Thank you for your
prompt responses and detailed information.
Tell your boss to put you in for a raise.
Renee W." |
